GRADUATE ASSISTANTSHIP IN TURFGRASS SCIENCE

Description

The University of Arkansas, Dept. of Horticulture, is seeking either a M.S. or Ph.D. student in the area of turfgrass science. The primary focus of the research will either be on cold tolerance issues with ultradwarf bermudagrass putting greens or shade tolerance / management of golf and sports turf.

Qualifications

. B.S. degree in Horticulture, Agronomy, or other related plant science disciplines.
. Excellent written and oral English communication skills.
. A background in turfgrass science or experience in turfgrass management is preferred.
.Self-motivation to work with a diverse group of scientists, staff, and students to conduct field, laboratory, and greenhouse research.

Benefits

. Annual stipend of $14,000 for M.S. students and $16,000 for Ph.D. students. For Ph.D. candidates, the University of Arkansas also has a competitive fellowship program (http://grad.uark.edu/future/funding/fellowships.php) that can supplement the normal graduate assistantship from $10,000 up to $22,000 per year.
