The University of California, in Davis, CA (U.C. Davis) is seeking for a student to conduct research in weed science. The selected student will receive a graduate student research salary, tuition and fees, and student insurance.

Description

The selected graduate student will conduct research on herbicidal injury to horticultural crops (trees and vines) from spray drift and other means of exposure. Research will include field, greenhouse, and laboratory studies on herbicide fate, plant physiology, and crop injury in a production agriculture environment.

Qualifications

The preferred candidate will have a background in agriculture and/or weed science, and an interest in the factors affecting herbicidal weed control in agronomic and horticultural cropping systems. An M.S. in weed science or a related discipline is preferred, but not mandatory. Candidates should also have: critical thinking skills, scientific curiosity, interest in applied and basic weed science research questions, and the ability to work as part of a research and extension team.
